Last season Cardiff’s visit to Stoke ended in a 3-3 draw, with the Bluebirds battling back from 3-0 down. Cardiff won 2-1 in the reverse fixture.

Stoke have suffered five defeats in their last seven Championship matches but won 2-0 against Luton in their last home game. The Potters are 17^th and 1-point ahead of 19th-placed Cardiff.

Cardiff may have welcomed the break for the World Cup having suffered six defeats in their last eight league games, they lost back-to-back home games in the latest to Hull (3-2) and Sheffield United (1-0).
